PH Truth

Postby Baa Braa on 04 Feb 2015 22:11

Executive Director of Australian conservative activist organisation Efficiency1st Mr Charlie McCowen has today called for the Greens and the CSIRO to come clean on ocean PH levels.

Despite many articles concerned about “ ocean acidity” in the media recently and extensive comment from the Greens on the issue, the actual level of ocean PH still remains a mystery to the average observer.

Mr McCowen pointed out in the interests of truth that ocean PH was in fact around 8.2. This is not in fact acid but alkaline and far from being acid anytime in the near future.

Mr McCowen drew particular attention to statements made by Greens leader Senator Christine Milne as recorded in Hansard on 22 November 2010 (page 1754) where Senator Milne stated “the oceans are becoming more acidic”. This statement is clearly incorrect and many Australians would feel mislead in now discovering that the oceans are in fact the opposite of acidic, being alkaline.

Furthermore Mr McCowen pointed out that whilst average ocean PH levels continue to fall at a very marginal rate, should that continue then the oceans would eventually fall to PH 7 which is completely non acidic or neutral.

Mr McCowen stated that “Senator Milne needs to explain whether she was aware of the actual PH level when these statements were made, the Senate and the Australian people deserve to know the truth and deserve to know whether Senator Milne has made these statements in error or as a deliberate action”.

“Personally I was shocked to discover that the oceans were not acidic” Mr McCowen said “ There is no place in politics or in public debate for misrepresentation of the facts on issues as important as climate change, whether that occurs as result of intentional misinformation or pure incompetence” Mr McCowen concluded.
